As Bhai Gurdas ji made the effort to bring the Sangat and their gifts, food and money; happiness came to the home. Langar was begun to be made continuously and Sikhs began to live with Guru Arjan Dev ji, with love. Bhai Gurdas ji began to live with Guru ji as well. When they would find out about Sangat heading towards Guru ji, Bhai Gurdas ji would go out ahead and direct them to the true Guru. He would make sure that they were convinced that Guru Arjan Dev ji was the true Guru. He would collect the money and gifts before hand, so they wouldn’t get stalked by Prithi Chand’s or Mahadev’s men. He would strategize and use many types of efforts in bringing the money back to Guru ji. Bhai Gurdas ji said to them that: “you would be in bliss if you would go to Guru Arjan Dev ji.” They all came to Guru Arjan Dev ji. The money began to collect and was used for the Langar and the Seva of the Sangat. The court began to be held in its glory.

Prithi Chand and Mahadev no longer had anybody visiting them. They no longer had money collecting. They cursed Bhai Gurdas ji: “this disturber of the Guru should die. He is Guru Arjan’s Mamma as well as ours. If he calls himself a Sikh, then he should serve the Guru like a servant. The three of us are the sons of the Satguru. I am the eldest. If he doesn’t see me as the eldest, then he should treat all three of us as equals. He is the pain-giver of the Guru. He is taking the money from our hands and giving it to the youngest brother.” When Bhai Gurdas ji would pass Prithi Chand, Prithi Chand would speak out loud and say: “look at this fool! Where did he come from and take ownership of things?” Bhai Gurdas ji heard him and approached Prithi Chand. He folded his hands and said: “if I am doing something wrong, then, may I suffer from your curses. If I am doing something for my own greed, may I be in pain. Whatever I am doing, if I am doing the right thing, it doesn’t matter what you say, nothing will happen to me. Your curses will have no effect on me if I am doing the right thing. Whoever receives what is rightfully his, and if another person comes to stop him, then that person is a sinner. If I am making an effort for the true Guru to get what his rightfully his, this makes the Satguru happy. Your words are useless. I have done nothing wrong.” After this, the two brothers stopped saying bad things to Bhai Gurdas ji. Bhai Gurdas ji made sure that all of the Sangat from every direction was coming to Guru Arjan Dev ji. He made sure the money came to the Guru. The two brothers were in pain, as they did not have any money. They said to each other: “without income, we will be poor. We will need to make an effort. The Sangat knows about everything now. They don’t give us the money. They come to worship the feet of Guru Arjan Dev ji. They are not convinced to believe anyone else as the Guru.” Their efforts were useless. Without money, they regretted their actions. They thought of one more effort: “we won’t be able to do anything here. We should go to other lands without informing anyone. We can preach there and gather Sangat. We will take their money for worshipping. We will meet them once a year to collect the money. That Sangat will be far. Whatever we tell them, they will believe. They will see us as the sons of the Guru and worship us.” They thought of this and made preparations to go. They didn’t tell anyone of their plans. They mounted their horses and left. They only had greed in their minds.

Bhai Gurdas ji found out about Prithi Chand and Mahadev leaving. He found out about their intentions of collecting money from the Sangat from far away. Bhai Gurdas ji had Hukamnamas issued and sent to the Sangats living in far away lands. Bhai Gurdas ji sent the Hukamnamas and then travelled himself to the lands to tell them personally: “nobody is to give their money to these two brothers. They have not been commissioned by the Guru for any Seva. Whoever calls themselves a Sikh of the Guru, they should send their Dasvands to Guru Arjan Dev ji.” As the brothers began to collect some money, the letters of Bhai Gurdas ji had reached. The Sangat found out about Guru Ramdas ji kicking out Prithi Chand. The Sangat came to know and then they stopped giving them money. From that point, they didn’t get any more money from any other city. They felt bad about not receiving the money anymore. Bhai Gurdas ji followed them and then collected the money to take back to Guru Arjan Dev ji. Bhai Gurdas ji gathered the Sangat as well, and took them to visit the Master of the Universe, Guru Arjan Dev ji.

Prithi Chand and Mahadev came back to Amritsar. They caused a big fight in the Guru’s home. They said: “when we go to collect money for our living, this “cursed by the Guru” of a person doesn’t let us collect the money. He should have died in Agra. He shouldn’t be here. If he would have been there, we would have collected money and made a living. How should we make a living? Everyone gives you the money. We are the sons of the same father that you are, think about our living. This is not good. We will go to the Badshah and ask for justice.” Guru Arjan Dev ji had a lot of people visiting him. Bhai Gurdas ji and others spoke: “give them something, Guru ji.” The both sides tried to come to an agreement to stop the problem that Prithi Chand started. As some of the shops had their taxes coming in, the taxes from the shops of Paseea Chownk were decided to be given to Mahadev and Prithi Chand. They were given the right to the taxes of those shops. Guru Arjan Dev ji set up income for his brothers well. In this way, they began to make good money for their living. The money from the Sangat stayed with Guru Arjan Dev ji. In this way, the Guru Ghar was running well and the three brothers were on better terms with each other. They all lived in the city of Guru Ramdas ji. Prithi Chand still was jealous but didn’t show it anymore. Guru Arjan Dev ji was very calm. He had no enmity or jealousy in his mind. Prithi Chand still did bad things but Guru ji didn’t pay any attention to him. Satguru ji met everyone with love. He didn’t have any rivalry with his brothers.

Time passed in this way and Prithi Chand had a son born to him who was named “Meharvaan.” There was a celebration that brought happiness to all. After a few months, Meharvaan was brought to Guru Arjan ji. Guru ji took him in his lap and loved him dearly. He would play with him and treated him like a son. Guru ji was calm-natured and had well wishes for all. Guru ji loved the child a lot. If he would miss a day to come to him, Guru ji would send someone to bring him. After a year, Meharvaan grew. He would come to Guru ji and play. Guru ji would have him sit in his lap and gave him gold jewellery. He would give him expensive clothes with gold borders. He saw him as his own son. Prithi Chand would see this and say to his wife: “it is not long till all of the things that Sri Arjan owns; we will have it all. We will become the owners of everything. He has no son of his own. The Gurta Ghaddi will come to our son. He loves our son and gives him gold and clothes. When Guru Arjan Dev ji’s body is no more, our son will be the Guru. We will be worshiped. The Gurta Ghaddi will come to us and our family will grow and prosper.” Prithi Chand would have bad intentions and be happy with his son. He did not know the ways of the Prabhoo Parmeshwar. A person thinks of something but Akaal Purakh has something else planned.
