Make the radiance of Sri Guru ji’s feet the jewellery of your heart. I have become beautiful and respected in both worlds.

Sri Bala Sandhur Vaach..

Listen Guru Angad Dev ji, Giver of Joy, Prahlaad ji then said his history: “four sons were born, including me. Our father’s body shined like gold. He was happy. Naarad Muni ji was compassionate over me and gave me the Gurmantra. My mind was drenched in Bhagti all the time. I rejected drama and plays of children. My mind was always connected to the Lotus Feet of Hari. Sitting down, standing up, sleeping and awake; I did Simran with love. I was only concerned about the feet of Prabhoo. Sometimes it was so deep that I felt like crying. I would stop worrying and start to think of the virtues of the Prabhoo. I would then get happy and laugh. I would sometimes sing the praises out loud and sometimes I would dance, not concerned with what others would think of me. I would sometimes go quiet and sit in Dhyaana. I would begin to cry in Vairag. My focus didn’t go anywhere else. I was always connected to the Prabhoo. My sleep, hunger and thirst were gone. I was in deep love with the feet of the Prabhoo. My mind was fully awake in the connection of Prabhoo. I didn’t like the ways of the world. I renounced all types of playing, that children played. Some time passed like this.

One day my father gave me love and took me in his lap. Shukar had two sons: Shanday and Markay. They used to teach the children of the Daynts. I was enlisted in their school as well. They were told to teach me politics. I studied with the other children. We all learned but I didn’t accept their teachings. I did the Simran of the Naam. One day, my father took me in his lap and laughed. He asked me: “son, what you have learnt from school? Tell me.” When I heard my father, I said: “listen father, the lesson I learnt is beautiful. Let go of the blind well of wealth and attachment. They only give you pain. This will not break your bonds. Let’s leave these palaces and go to the jungle. We will serve the feet of Vishnu and enjoy the bliss. Let’s do Simran and erase our Agyaan. We can do Bhagti and achieve the highest status.” When my father heard this, he laughed like an Agyaani. He called my teacher, Shanday, and said: “this child’s wisdom has gone backwards. He speaks faulty words from his mouth. Who taught him this? Don’t let him be in the company of Rishis. Keep him in your home and teach him without fear.”

My teachers brought me to their home and had me sit in a place where I was alone. They then asked me: “who taught you this backwards ideology? Some bad person gave you this advice. Forget this advice and don’t say that again.” I said to my teachers: “you see own and others. I don’t see mine and yours. I only see the One Aatma. I only bow to the Aatma which is everywhere. Everything else is his Maya, which is, by his own joy. Maya has casted its illusion on everything. It caused yours and mines. You see a difference but I don’t see any differences. When Sri Kartaar is compassionate upon someone, then this sense of duality disappears. Focusing on the Aatma, all duality finishes. You don’t see yours or mines. The fools do not understand the meanings of the Vedas. They will never break their bonds or be blessed. They will be born and die, over and over again. They suffer many types of pains. The ones who see the Aatma, they break all of the worldly bonds and attachments.” Shanda and Marka heard this and said: “this child is corrupt. The Daynts are great like a jungle. Vishnu is like an axe who wants to destroy this jungle. Without the wooden handle, the axe head cannot cut the trees. He’s using this wood to make his axe now. He will surely have our people destroyed. He is very stubborn and doesn’t fear anyone. Let’s get a bamboo and give him wisdom by beating him. Without the bamboo stick, he won’t learn. Let’s show him fear then we can teach him our teachings.” I didn’t listen to them. I didn’t say anything when they tried to teach me. A long time passed like this. They thought I was learning their teachings but I didn’t listen.

One day I came to my father. My teachers were there too. I bowed to my father. He blessed me with joy. He lifted me and hugged me. He kissed my forehead and seated my on his thigh. He said: “oh son, you came to me after many days. Tell me what you have learned. Say it out loud.” I heard this and said what was in my heart: “understand my wisdom in your heart. The praises and Simran of Hari are the best things to listen to. Do Keertan, serve the feet of Hari; do archana/pooja and bow to the Sri Jag Deva; have faith; give your body to Hari; see Hari as your friend; these are the 9 types of Bhagti which give Mukti. We should do this with love. The other education, I have rejected which does not give you a rye of a benefit.” My father, Haranakash, heard this and became angry. He clenched his lips with his teeth. His eyes became red. He spoke to the sons of Shukar: “you are fools! You are on the other side. You give the education of my enemy. You have disrespected me! You are unfortunate. You give my son Vishnu’s education. I have understood that you are thieves. You are disguised but I understand you. You are the lowest of all the Brahmins. Your Bhuddi is spoiled.” Shanday and Markay heard this and folded their hands. They said: “we are innocent. We didn’t teach him this. Nobody else taught him either. Your son is naturally like this. He has learned the corrupt teachings from someone and is saying all this. You are getting angry at us for this but you need to understand that it is your son’s fault.” My father looked towards me and said: “son, if your Gurus haven’t taught you this then where did you learn this corrupt ideology from?” I heard my father and said: “let go of your anger, father. The one who is possessed with pleasures and desires, they will not understand the wisdom of wise people. Even if you try millions of times, they will never understand. Their hearts are Bemukhs and will not understand. It’s peaceful to live near the Mansarovar. Swans eat pearls there. If a crow is told to live there, it will not understand. Crows only eat feces. All of the pure things are at the Mansarovar. There is nothing likable for the crow there. The fool will never learn the ways of Bhagti. The bonds of the world are heavy. There is one way out of them though: listen to the wisdom of the Satguru. Pain will not remain then. The weak Gurus only take money but have no Aatam Gyaan. They don’t know the righteous path nor can they teach it. They are like the blind teaching the blind. They fall into the pothole. Their followers fall as well. Oh father, why do you not do the Simran of the feet of Prabhoo? You will be released from being born and dying again. Do the Satsangat with the saints, who are like the Kamdhenu cow, granting all your wishes. Take the dirt from the feet of the saints and put it on your head. You will cross this world ocean that way. You will achieve the Param Ghat, highest status, in every way.” My father, the Raja of the Daynts, heard this and got angry. His body became red and began to shake in anger. His eyes were sharp and scary. He roared out loud while throwing me from his lap: “take him and kill him! He is not my son. I am not his father. He is a fierce illness on my body. He is a tumor on my limb. Amputating such a limb would give me peace. Just kill him! Don’t think about it. The one who killed my brother, he does his Upasana. He left his family and joined the enemy. He is the lover of Vishnu’s feet. The son that goes to the enemy, that is not a son, that is an enemy. If another thinks good for you, that is your son. The son-like person should be given joy. Understand this. Kill him! He is not my son.” The servants heard this harsh thing. The Daanavs, with scary faces, got up to kill me. They had Trishools and swords in their hands. They were dark with huge teeth. Their skins were like copper. They yelled: “catch him! Kill him! Cut his body to pieces!” Everyone took their weapons and swung them on me. They had swords and Trishools. Their attempts were all unsuccessful. They couldn’t harm a single hair of mine. The one who is Bemukh from Ikankaar, their efforts are always unsuccessful. The Daynt Raja saw this with his own eyes. He fell into doubt. He said: “he won’t die like this. Do something else: have an elephant rip his body apart. Have snakes bite him all over his body. If he still survives all this, then give him poison in his food.” The Daanavs did all these attempts. They put me in front of an elephant but the elephant bowed its head to me. The cobras that were thrown on my, they wrapped themselves around me like a garland. I wasn’t harmed. I was poisoned too but Sri Kartaar saved me again. Who could have killed me? I was then tied and thrown off of a very high mountain. I was then drowned in water followed by being burnt in fire. (My father’s sister, Holika, had a blanket, that did not burn in fire. It was given to her for her Tapp. She took the blanket and carried me in her lap. She took me and sat on a burning pyre to burn me. As the fire raged, the blanket burned along with Holika, my aunt. I was saved) I survived everything. I didn’t even get a scratch. They then kept me without food for many days. They tried to kill me in many ways. They tried everything. They were getting worried. When my father saw all this, he got worried. All of his tries were without fruit. He thought to himself: “he doesn’t die. I tried to scare him and spoke to him with harsh words, but he is still happy. His radiance is great. He is definitely my enemy. My enmity has grown. He must die. If he doesn’t die, it will be bad. I feel my death coming.” In this way, my father was worried. His face was depressed. His radiance was gone.

Shanda and Marka saw all that was happening. They took my father to a room and spoke to him with sweet words: “listen Raja ji, we tried to convince the boy but he didn’t listen. Why are you worried? Seeing your angled eyebrows, the 3 Loks lose their patience in fear. Why are you concerned over one child? The 3 Loks are under your command. Let go of your worries and listen to us: tie him with the Varunpaas (water rope - special weapon). Shukracharya has one in his home. We can tie this child with it and keep him. When our father comes back, he will know how to talk to the child. The child will be older then and become wiser. Shukracharya will teach him politics and other educations.” My father accepted their idea. He said: “take him and tie him up. Teach him the 3 ways of our Dharma.”

Shanday and Marka tied me with the Varunpaas and took me to their home. They came to me everyday to teach me but I didn’t listen to them. They were stuck in attachment and hatred. How could my mind get stuck in such a trap? My attention was focused in the feet of Sri Kartaar. Day and night, my awareness understood the infinite from the finite. I was in love with the wisdom. I saw the universe as a myth which was not to last forever. I did the Simran of the Naam which I understood to be the only support. When my teachers went outside for household tasks, the other children of the Daynts would come to me. I would give them the right wisdom. They would take the wisdom and engrave it into their hearts. They would listen to me and ask me questions. They became aware in their hearts about Bhagti a lot.”
